Privacy policy

Updated

This policy explains what Humanize AI collects when you use the site, what it doesn't, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and plain.

The short version

  • You don't need an account to use anything on this site.
  • Text you paste into the AI detector is analyzed and then discarded. It isn't stored.
  • Our own visit counter works without cookies and without storing IP addresses. Google Analytics, if it's turned on, does use cookies.
  • If ads are shown, the advertising provider may use cookies. See Advertising.

The AI detector

When you press "Check for AI", your text is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, analyzed, and the result is sent back to your browser. The text isn't saved to a file or database, isn't logged, and isn't used to train any AI model. We record only that a check happened, the date and an approximate country.

To stop abuse, the server limits how many checks one visitor can run per minute. It does this with a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. The per-minute count is overwritten every minute and the daily count is erased at midnight, so the hash is never kept for more than a day.

Under each result there's a "Does this score look wrong?" link. If you send a report, we keep your answer, any note you write, the score and the word count. Your text is included only if you tick the box to include it. Reported text is used only to improve the AI detector and is never published.

Visit statistics

When you open a page, a small script tells our server:

  • which page you opened, and which page on this site you came from
  • the website that linked you here (for example "google.com"), or the source named in a link such as ?utm_source=newsletter
  • your device's time zone setting, which we turn into a country (for example "America/New_York" becomes United States)
  • whether this is your first visit today
  • on lesson pages, how far down the lesson you scrolled

To know whether it's your first visit today, the script saves today's date in your browser's local storage. It isn't a cookie, it isn't shared with anyone, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings. If the site runs behind Cloudflare, the country may come from Cloudflare instead of your time zone. We store only totals, such as "12 visitors from Canada on October 20". We don't store IP addresses or build profiles.

Lesson feedback

At the end of each lesson you can say whether it helped and add a comment. We keep the vote totals and your comment, with the lesson and the date. Please don't include personal details in comments. To stop the same person voting many times, a scrambled version of your IP address is kept for the rest of the day, then erased.

Google Analytics

This site may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. When it's on, Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location and your device type. We see this only as totals. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser's privacy settings.

Hosting and fonts

Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses and browser details, for security and troubleshooting. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers to download them. Google's privacy policy applies to that connection.

Advertising

This site may show ads to keep the course free. Ads may be provided by Google AdSense or other networks. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Visitors in some regions, such as the European Economic Area and the UK, will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.

Bot protection

To keep automated scripts from overloading the AI detector, it may use Cloudflare Turnstile. When it does, Cloudflare checks signals from your browser to tell people and bots apart. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that check. We receive only a pass or fail result.

Site administration

The site's administrators sign in to a private dashboard. That sign-in uses a session cookie, which is only set for administrators and is never set for regular visitors.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. Since we don't collect personal information from any visitor, there is nothing to delete, but you can contact us with any concern.

Questions

If you have a question about this policy, email hello@humanize-ai.com. If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
