Finding and Keeping Your Voice

Build a personal style sheet so every draft starts closer to you.

"Write in my voice" is the most common request people make of AI tools, and the one they're least happy with. The model can't copy a voice it's never been shown, and most of us have never put our own style into words.

This module fixes that. You'll study your own writing, list the words and habits that make it yours, add the opinions AI leaves out, and finish with a one-page style sheet you can use in any AI tool.

After this module you can

  • Describe your writing style in concrete, checkable terms
  • Keep your quirks when AI helps you edit
  • Add clear opinions where AI drafts hedge
  • Use a personal style sheet so drafts start closer to you
  1. Lesson 4.1 Audit Five Things You've Written Find your natural writing voice by auditing five pieces you wrote yourself. What to look for, what to count and what to write down.
  2. Lesson 4.2 Your Words, Openers and Quirks The small habits that make writing recognizably yours, and how to keep them in AI-assisted drafts instead of letting the model smooth them out.
  3. Lesson 4.3 Add the Opinions AI Leaves Out AI hedges and balances everything. How to add clear opinions and judgment calls to your writing, which is the part readers trust most.
  4. Lesson 4.4 Build a One-Page Personal Style Sheet Combine your voice, banned words and habits into a one-page style sheet you can paste into any AI tool. Free template included.
